Get your Grape out of my Apple
I was at HEB today and I walked past the apples and smelled the undeniable aroma of grape lip gloss from my childhood. There was a small box of Grapples, grape flavored apples, in front of me. What a bizarre idea. I had to buy them. They smelled really sweet like grape candy, and I couldn't wait to get home to try one. Get Fit Foods explains how a Grapple is made:
The Grapple is a Washington State Extra Fancy Fuji apple. This is the only apple that currently meets the strict Grapple standards. The Fuji is bathed through a patented process and in a few days the entire apple takes on the essence and mouth-watering taste of Concord grapes. The combination is outstanding.
I wouldn't say this combination is outstanding. It was a nice idea but poor execution. The grape flavor seems very artificial so it just tastes like I'm eating crunchy grape lip gloss. I'm not sure this is Good Eats.
